1. Draw an oval for the head (upside down egg shape). Always start with the head first, then the eyes, then the nose, and mouth, and ears. Draw a line down the center of the oval from top to bottom. Draw another line through the center of the oval from left to right.
Add the eyes on either side of where the two lines meet. Try drawing big circles for the skull, then put the eyes in the middle of each circle. Eyes can be any shape you want, but most people's eyes have tilted eyelids. (They curve like a bow.) Keep in mind that the proportions have to be accurate, there is about enough space for another eye to fit in between each eye.
2. Remember to draw the nose. An easy way to do this is to draw a slightly curved down horizontal line, with "C" shapes around each end. You can also add wrinkles, spots, and anything else you can think of to make it look more realistic. Do not draw lines for the nose it should be blended with a blending tool like a blending stump. The mouth goes just below the nose. Begin by drawing a horizontal line, and shading in the shape of the top lip. Also, add shading where the bottom lip stops instead of drawing the outline of it, as this adds depth. You can make the lips either big or small, with or without the teeth showing. The chin begins just below the mouth. It is a curve beneath the lower lip. 3. If you are adding a neck, draw a line on both sides at the bottom of the oval, in line with the eyes. Keep in mind that men have a thicker neck than women.
4. Draw a complete body, start with a simple oval for the head (an upside down egg shape), then draw a vertical line beneath, keeping in mind that a body is usually seven ovals tall. After drawing that line, draw a perpendicular line for the shoulders. This will give you an idea how wide the chest will be. The chest will be about 1/3 of the body. Draw a box or larger oval shape for it.
5. Note that the hips will be different, depending on whether you're drawing a man or a woman. When drawing arms, make sure that the aren't stock straight, no one has arms that don't bend a bit at the elbow, even when still. Draw a short box for the pelvis. For the legs, draw lines from the hip box, from both the left and right edges. The knees will be about two oval lengths down the legs. The calves will be about 1 1/2 oval length. The feet can be two simple ovals to start with. Add anything from a dazzling smile to messy hair - use your imagination and make this person unique and fun!
6. Now for the finishing touches. Unless your going for a naked person, add some clothes. Make sure that they flow and look realistic. Look at the way your clothes wrinkle and fold, because all clothes have wrinkles. Erase all unwanted guide lines, and you are finished! Keep in mind when adding clothing to the body that it has to show body structure underneath, ex :the wrinkles in the clothing should flow with the form of the body, so that it looks more realistic. if you are drawing a nude the muscle structure of your subject should be apparent in the drawing.
